Friendship Week

Every year we host a Friendship Week across the whole school here in St. Mary's. This ties in very well with our focus on mental wellbeing and our Bí Cineálta (Be Kind) Policy.

Children are given lots of tasks and activities to do throughout the week with the focus being on promoting opportunities for friendship across the school. Class groups are re-organised to encourage chidlren to chat with someone new. Weather permitting we go for a Wellness Walk with a new friend and take the opportunity to have a conversation and get to know each other.

We have a whole school Friendship Assembly where Kindness Awards are given. This academic year each child was gifted a key ring made by their classmates that highlighted the wonderful things about them. Staff also engage in Friendship Week and everyone gets a 'secret friend' for the week.

We all really enjoy the opportunity to promote kindness across the whole school.
